Superior service a must-have says new agent. At a time when businesses are closing, one new kid on the block is expanding her footprint.
Gold City Realty Opens New Charters Towers Office
At a time when many businesses were facing uncertainty, Gold City Realty was expanding its local presence in Charters Towers.
Real estate agent Tarja Barnes opened the new Gold City Realty shopfront at 3/60 Mosman Street, Charters Towers, marking an exciting step forward for the growing local agency.
Ms Barnes, who was the sole agent behind Gold City Realty at the time, said starting her own business and opening a local office was a dream come true.
“I’ve been working in real estate for 10 years now and I’ve run offices for other employers,” she said.
“I was looking at coming back off maternity leave with a baby and working for someone else … and thought now would be the time to work on the dream.”
A Growing Local Real Estate Business
The mother of two started her real estate business in October the previous year, looking after residential and commercial property sales and management.
Her success led to the expansion of the business into a local shopfront, open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Inside the busy office, sepia photographs of old Charters Towers hang beside black and white images from around the town today — a nod to Ms Barnes’ local roots.
Raised in Charters Towers, Ms Barnes attended Columba Catholic College and said her connection to the area remained an important part of the business.
“I was raised here, went to school here at Columba Catholic College,” she said.
“I’ve always believed Charters Towers is a very small town and people do like everything to be local. And I’m working for a local interest.
“Everyone really welcomes you with open arms.”
Focused on Customer Service
With a full rent roll and multiple properties on the books, Ms Barnes said she hoped to hire staff soon while keeping her focus firmly on clients.
“Business is going really good. It’s been quite positive,” she said.
“I’m heavily focused on the customer service side of things. I really believe in offering superior customer service — same-day callbacks and always making sure their emails get answered.”
